READER'S RESPONSE - A Word to Husbands by Ogden Nash

A Word to Husbands

To keep your marriage brimming
With love in the loving cup,
Whenever you’re wrong, admit it;
Whenever you’re right, shut up.

Criticism:

                 Reader Response is a criticism that focuses primarily on the reader's reaction to a text.

               "A Word to Husbands" by Ogden Nash is a really short poem with a deep meaning buried on it. As I read the poem, it clearly states the problem that most of the marriages are facing today. As a matter of fact, this lines when being followed by couples will surely free them from all the worries they have and will make their life peaceful. On the contrary, these lines were not abided. Mistakes were not admitted and this lead to misunderstanding and heated arguments. Not accepting faults can be harmful especially when you obviously know you're wrong. It would be meaningless especially if it would lead to the urge of separation. Arguments are not avoidable but if this words are kept in mind by both husband and wife the love will surely remain.
